Since DEMAT accounts can only hold whole shares, fractional entitlements cannot be credited directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This typically happens in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Bonus issues<\/li><li>Stock splits<\/li><li>Mergers<\/li><li>Spin-offs<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if a company announces a 1:3 bonus and you hold 100 shares, your entitlement is 33.33 bonus shares. The 33 whole shares are credited to your DEMAT.
