{"id":27841,"date":"2026-05-02T05:11:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-02T05:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.samco.in\/help-support\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=27841"},"modified":"2026-05-02T05:11:34","modified_gmt":"2026-05-02T05:11:34","slug":"what-does-you-do-not-have-adequate-holdings-balance-for-selling-the-stock-rejection-mean-and-why-did-my-order-get-rejected","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.samco.in\/help-support\/article\/what-does-you-do-not-have-adequate-holdings-balance-for-selling-the-stock-rejection-mean-and-why-did-my-order-get-rejected\/","title":{"rendered":"What does &#8220;You do not have adequate holdings balance for selling the stock&#8221; rejection mean and why did my order get rejected?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This message means you are trying to sell more shares than what is currently available in your holdings for that stock on the Samco app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why does this happen?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several reasons why your available holdings balance may be less than expected:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>You have already sold some shares earlier in the day<\/strong> \u2014 If you sold part of your holdings earlier, the remaining quantity may be less than what you are now trying to sell.<\/li><li><strong>Shares are pledged or used as collateral<\/strong> \u2014 Pledged shares are blocked and are not counted as available for selling until they are unpledged.<\/li><li><strong>Shares blocked due to corporate actions<\/strong> \u2014 If a company has announced a bonus, stock split, or rights issue, some or all of your shares may be temporarily blocked around the record date and will not be available for selling until the corporate action is fully processed.<\/li><li><strong>Early pay-in shares<\/strong> \u2014 If your shares have been marked for early pay-in, they are already committed to settlement and will not show as available for selling.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What you need to do:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to the <strong>Portfolio<\/strong> section on the Samco app and check the exact available quantity for that stock. Place a sell order only for the quantity that shows as available. If your shares are pledged, unpledge them first.
