{"id":27877,"date":"2026-05-06T07:05:28","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T07:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.samco.in\/help-support\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=27877"},"modified":"2026-05-08T11:02:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T11:02:29","slug":"important-update-on-mtf-position-conversion","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.samco.in\/help-support\/article\/important-update-on-mtf-position-conversion\/","title":{"rendered":"Important Update on MTF Position Conversion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Starting 11 May 2026, position conversion involving Margin Trading Facility (MTF) will no longer be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means you will not be able to switch positions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>from Intraday (MIS) or Delivery (CNC) to MTF, or<\/li><li>from MTF to Intraday (MIS) or Delivery (CNC).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your existing MTF positions will continue normally and will not be impacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-is-changing\" >What is Changing?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, clients can change the product type of an existing position. For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>convert an Intraday (MIS) position to MTF<\/li><li>convert a Delivery (CNC) position to MTF<\/li><li>convert an MTF position to CNC or MIS<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>From 11 May 2026, these conversions involving MTF will no longer be allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Before 11 May 2026<\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">From 11 May 2026<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">MIS to MTF conversion allowed<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Not allowed<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">CNC to MTF conversion allowed<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Not allowed<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">MTF to MIS\/CNC conversion allowed<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">Not allowed<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"examples-for-better-understanding\" >Examples for Better Understanding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 id=\"example-1-converting-intraday-mis-to-mtf\" ><strong>Example 1: Converting Intraday (MIS) to MTF<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Before<\/strong>: You could buy shares as MIS and later convert the position to MTF before market close.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>After<\/strong>: This conversion will not be allowed. If you want to take the trade in MTF, you must select MTF while placing the order itself.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 id=\"example-2-converting-delivery-cnc-to-mtf\" ><strong>Example 2: Converting Delivery (CNC) to MTF<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Before<\/strong> :You could convert an existing CNC holding into MTF.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>After<\/strong> :CNC to MTF conversion will not be allowed. You will need to place a fresh MTF order separately.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 id=\"example-3-converting-mtf-to-cnc-or-mis\" ><strong>Example 3: Converting MTF to CNC or MIS<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Before<\/strong> :You could convert your MTF position into CNC or MIS anytime.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>After<\/strong> :MTF positions cannot be converted to any other product type. The position will continue as MTF until it is exited.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> Existing MTF holdings will continue without any interruption. This update only affects future conversion requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 id=\"example-4-taking-a-fresh-mtf-position\" ><strong>Example 4: Taking a Fresh MTF Position<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to trade under MTF, simply choose MTF while placing the order.
