How long does a GTT order remain valid and what happens if the trigger is never hit?

A GTT order on Samco has lifetime validity. Unlike regular Day orders that expire at the end of the trading session, a GTT order stays active in the system indefinitely — across days, weeks, and months until one of the following happens:

  • The stock reaches your trigger price and the order is executed
  • You manually cancel the GTT from the Orders tab
  • The GTT expires due to a corporate action such as a stock split, bonus issue, or merger that changes the stock’s price structure
  • The stock is delisted or suspended from trading

If the trigger price is never reached, the GTT simply remains in Active status and continues waiting. You can check all your active GTTs anytime from the GTT tab in the Orders section. There is no need to renew or resubmit the order, it stays in place until something triggers it or you cancel it yourself.
