How much time does it take to transfer shares from one Demat account to another?

The time required to transfer shares depends on the mode of transfer:

1. Online Transfer (via CDSL Easiest)

Shares are generally transferred within T+1 working day after successful authorization (OTP/TPIN authentication).

 2. Offline Transfer (via Delivery Instruction Slip – DIS)

Once the duly filled and signed DIS is submitted and verified, the transfer is typically processed within 1–2 working days.

 3. Inter-Depository Transfer (CDSL ↔ NSDL)

Transfers between different depositories may take 1–2 working days, depending on the respective depository processing timelines.

 Important Notes:

  • Transfers are processed only on working days.
  • Delays may occur if details such as ISIN, DP ID, or Beneficiary Demat ID are incorrect.
  • Ensure all information is accurate to avoid rejection or processing delays.
