There is no fixed schedule that all companies follow. Each company decides when and how often to pay dividends based on its financial performance and cash position.
Interim Dividend – Paid once or more during the financial year, usually after a strong quarterly result.
Final Dividend – Paid once, after the full year results are declared and approved at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Some companies pay both an interim dividend mid-year and a final dividend at year end.
What this means for you
A company may pay dividends every year, skip a year, or pay multiple times in a single year and there is no legal obligation to maintain a fixed frequency. Past dividend history gives you a sense of consistency, but it’s not a guarantee of future payouts.
