Yes. There are situations where a pledge or unpledge request will not go through.
Unpledge restrictions:
- If your ledger balance is in debit, you cannot unpledge shares until the balance is cleared
- If you have an active sell order for a stock, unpledging the same stock at the same time is not allowed this prevents double unpledging
- If the shares are currently meeting an active margin obligation, the status shows as “Utilising Collateral” and the unpledge is rejected
Pledge restrictions:
- Only securities on Samco’s approved pledge list can be pledged ineligible stocks cannot be used as collateral
- Holdings already pledged under MTF or any other facility cannot be pledged again under StockPlus
- CashPlus or MTF positions are not eligible for StockPlus margin
If a request is rejected, Samco Star will display the reason. Resolve the underlying issue such as clearing a debit balance or closing a conflicting position and retry.
