What are CAT, FINRA, and SEC fees?

These are US regulatory fees charged on trades by American financial regulators. They are not Samco charges and they are standard fees applicable to all investors trading in US markets.

Here’s a breakdown of each:

  • CAT Fee (Consolidated Audit Trail) : Charged at $0.000022 per share on both buy and sell transactions.
  • FINRA Fee (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) : Charged at $0.000166 per share on sell transactions only.
  • SEC Fee (Securities and Exchange Commission) : Charged at $0.0000206 on the total trade value on sell transactions only.

These charges are very small and are automatically applied to your trade. You can see the exact breakup before placing an order.
