Technology driven market leadership in the wastewater treatment market
The company was the first technology provider in the sequencing batch reactor space in India with the introduction of C-Tech in the WWT segment. With 728 installations commissioned in the WWT segment, particularly in sewage treatment plants, it held over 80% market share in sequencing batch reactor technology in India as of July 31, 2026, with its technologies facilitating the treatment of 17,511.11 million litres per day of wastewater as of the same date. C-Tech has been implemented in large-scale sequencing batch reactor based sewage treatment plants in India, including one of the largest such plants under development, with a treatment capacity of 424 million litres per day as of July 31, 2026. Core operations since incorporation comprise design, technology, manufacturing, supply and supervision for installation and commissioning of wastewater treatment equipment, with the C-Tech package covering design and engineering, technology installation and the supply of decanters, diffusers, air blowers, fibre disc filters and solar sludge drying systems alongside PLC and SCADA based automation, plus operations and maintenance services.
Vertical integration through constant innovation and use of technology
With over 20 years of experience in WWT technology, the company has built in-house manufacturing of the key components used in its C-Tech and OREX technologies, reducing dependence on third parties. It acquired a controlling stake in Chavare Engineering Private Limited, an electrical and automation business, in 2011; in the same year it integrated turbo blowers under an exclusive agreement with TurboMax Company Limited of South Korea and introduced the solar sludge drying system in India through an exclusive partnership with IST-Anlagenbau GmbH of Germany. It entered tertiary treatment in 2014 with fibre disk filters under an exclusive supply agreement with Yucheon Enviro Co, Ltd, incorporated Fine Aeration Systems Private Limited in 2022 to manufacture diffusers and was authorised by EDI Inc. USA in 2024 to manufacture, test and exclusively sell MP-3 MiniPanel and MP-3 Curvilinear Panel diffusers in India and overseas. Decanter manufacturing commenced in Fiscal 2023 and capacity was expanded in Fiscal 2024; Turbomax India Private Limited was jointly incorporated with TurboMax CO., Ltd in 2022 and its turbo blower unit began operations in Fiscal 2024; licensed in-house assembly of solar sludge drying systems commenced in Fiscal 2025, and on July 30, 2025 the company acquired an 80% equity stake in IST-Anlagenbau GmbH, making it a subsidiary. In Fiscal 2027 it introduced PlasmaConnect, a modular oxidation system based on C-ION non-thermal plasma technology, and has secured initial commercial orders for zero liquid discharge applications.
Well-positioned to capture market opportunities in the solid waste treatment segment
The company is among the market leaders in the municipal solid waste space on the basis of its operational results and comprehensive solutions, with its proprietary OREX technology separating biodegradable organics from inorganic materials and lignocellulosic fibres in mixed municipal waste. It has designed, built and operates two integrated facilities in Goa for the Goa Waste Management Corporation with combined treatment capacity of 350 tons per day and additional handling capacity of 75 tons per day, giving aggregate capacity of up to 425 tons per day. The Saligao plant in North Goa has operated continuously for more than 10 years, is one of the longest-operating integrated solid waste treatment based biogas plants in India, and achieved an average biogas yield of more than 150 normal cubic metres per ton of organic waste in the last financial year against an industry average of 80 to 100. Against India's compressed biogas blending obligation, subsidiary Hindustan Waste Treatment Private Limited secured awards from a public sector oil marketing company for a 125 tons per day unsegregated plant at Tinsukia, Assam in April 2025 and a 300 tons per day segregated plant at Bhubaneswar, Odisha in May 2025, each covering engineering, procurement, commissioning and 10 years of operations and maintenance. The SWT order book stood at Rs. 454.54 Crore as on August 31, 2026, and the company has been provisionally selected as a joint venture partner for a compressed biogas plant of up to 1,000 tons per day of segregated organic municipal solid waste in Mumbai.
High proportion of repeat business with a strong order book
On a standalone basis, revenue from repeat customers was Rs. 514.04 Crore in Financial Year 2026, or 91.98% of revenue from operations, against Rs. 403.97 Crore and 85.18% in Financial Year 2025 and Rs. 469.18 Crore and 89.96% in Financial Year 2024, rising to 97.41% in the three months ended June 30, 2026. Repeat customers are those from whom the Company derived revenue in any of the three preceding fiscal years. Long-standing customers include Enviro Control Private Limited, Vishvaraj Environment Limited, Khilari Infrastructure Private Limited, SMC Infrastructures Private Limited, Rajkamal Builders Infrastructure Private Limited, Ramky Infrastructure Private Limited, EMS Limited and Enviro Infra Engineers Ltd, supported by a brand reputation built over more than 20 years of industry presence. The Total Order Book across the WWT, WRR and SWT segments stood at Rs. 1,656.64 Crore as on August 31, 2026. The WWT order book was Rs. 561.25 Crore as at June 30, 2026, equal to 419.01% of total revenue from operations for that quarter, and the SWT order book Rs. 459.05 Crore, equal to 342.71%. Order book building in the new WRR segment began in Fiscal 2026 on receipt of the first order in July 2025, reaching Rs. 500.92 Crore as on March 31, 2026, Rs. 549.77 Crore as on June 30, 2026 and Rs. 561.07 Crore as on August 31, 2026.
Track record of consistent performance and strong financial profile
Revenue from operations grew at a CAGR of 10.56% from Rs. 657.50 Crore in Fiscal 2024 to Rs. 803.63 Crore in Fiscal 2026, and profit after tax at a CAGR of 5.42% from ? 144.17 Crore to Rs. 160.21 Crore over the same period, with PAT margins of 19.94%, 21.78% and 21.93% in Fiscals 2026, 2025 and 2024 respectively. Net worth grew from Rs. 534.30 Crore as at March 31, 2024 to Rs. 648.68 Crore as at March 31, 2025 and Rs. 804.17 Crore as at March 31, 2026, reaching Rs. 805.49 Crore as at June 30, 2026. The Net Debt to Equity ratio was 0.05 times as at March 31, 2026 against (0.08) times as at March 31, 2025 and (0.09) times as at March 31, 2024, and 0.08 times as at June 30, 2026. The company attributes this profile to a focused approach on profitable growth, efficient working capital management and a healthy order book.
Negative cash flows from operating activities in two of the last three Fiscals
Net cash used in operating activities was ? 25.80 Crore in Fiscal 2026 and Rs. 11.69 Crore in Fiscal 2024, against net cash generated of Rs. 65.51 Crore in Fiscal 2025, and a further Rs. 21.34 Crore was used in the three months ended June 30, 2026. The Fiscal 2026 outflow arose despite profit before tax of Rs. 211.49 Crore, driven by working capital movements including an increase in trade receivables of Rs. 173.64 Crore, an increase in other current assets of Rs. 47.60 Crore and an increase in inventories of Rs. 27.56 Crore. The company states that these cash flows are in the ordinary course of business and attributable to working capital movements, capital expenditure, acquisition of subsidiaries, dividend payments, repayment of borrowings and investments, and that it may continue to have negative cash flows in the future.
High working capital requirements funded almost entirely by short-term borrowings
Working capital as a percentage of total revenue from operations was 65.19%, 63.51% and 39.94% in Fiscals 2026, 2025 and 2024 respectively, rising to 561.06% for the three months ended June 30, 2026. On a standalone basis, working capital loans were Rs. 122.53 Crore as at March 31, 2026, or 95.20% of total borrowings, against Rs. 12.00 Crore and 61.22% as at March 31, 2025, while trade receivable days rose from 197 in Fiscal 2024 to 262 in Fiscal 2025 and 282 in Fiscal 2026 and the cash conversion cycle moved from 141 days to 259 days before easing to 235 days. The company warns that it expects to raise additional funds through further indebtedness or equity to meet working capital needs, which would increase interest and repayment obligations or dilute existing shareholders.
Rising revenue concentration in the top 10 customers, without long-term contracts
The top 10 customers accounted for Rs. 517.84 Crore or 64.44% of revenue from operations in Fiscal 2026, up from 61.37% in Fiscal 2025 and 59.18% in Fiscal 2024, and reached 79.20% in the three months ended June 30, 2026. The top five customers contributed 47.10%, 46.59% and 40.53% across Fiscals 2026, 2025 and 2024 and 62.12% in the June 2026 quarter, while the single largest customer contributed 14.34%, 16.76%, 10.77% and 26.68% respectively. The company does not have long-term contracts with most of these customers and their composition varies each fiscal depending on contracts and their realisation.
Substantial dependence on two segments and on government-funded projects
The WWT and SWT segments together accounted for Rs. 682.92 Crore or 84.98% of consolidated revenue from operations in Fiscal 2026, 84.34% in Fiscal 2025 and 87.40% in Fiscal 2024. Revenue directly or indirectly attributable to government entities or government tenders represented 92.35%, 92.40% and 95.72% of consolidated WWT segment revenue across those three Fiscals and 100.00% of SWT segment revenue in each of them. The two Goa concessions carry no automatic renewal, and the North Goa Plant concession has been extended only until August 20, 2027 or until a subsequent operator assumes operations, with no tender yet issued as at the date of the Red Herring Prospectus.

SFC Environmental Technologies is a leader in a field India badly needs. It holds over 80% share in SBR-based sewage treatment, with its systems in 728 plants. It owns its core processes, C-Tech and OREX, and builds many of its own key parts. This keeps margins strong. In FY26, its EBITDA margin was 29.34% and its profit margin was 19.94%. Repeat clients gave about 92% of sales. The Rs.1,656.64 crore order book is about twice FY26 sales. New areas like water reuse and biogas add long-term growth.
There are real concerns. Profit grew only 5.42% a year from FY24 to FY26. Cash flow from the business was negative in FY26, as money owed by clients rose much faster than sales. Most sales depend on government-funded projects, and the top 10 clients give about 64% of sales. The June 2026 quarter was weak, with profit of just Rs.1.48 crore. The North Goa plant contract runs only until August 2027.
At the upper band of Rs.330, the issue is priced at about 20 times FY26 earnings. That is well below peers like Thermax and Ion Exchange. We believe its strong market position and growth runway outweigh the near-term risks. Investors should keep a close eye on cash flow. We recommend investors SUBSCRIBE for the long term.
