Dalal Street wrapped up a bumpy week on a slightly positive note. Nifty 50 settled near 23,719 on Friday, gaining 0.27% in the day's session, while Sensex added roughly 232 points to finish around 75,415. The late-week pickup was driven by softer crude prices, a firmer rupee, and growing optimism around US-Iran diplomatic talks. Even so, traders stayed cautious after the previous week's steep 2.2% drop.
Among sectors, Nifty IT stole the show, climbing a over 4.31% for the week, followed by realty sector with Nifty realty surging 2.39%. The laggards were Media and FMCGwhich felt the pinch from weak sentiment and profit booking.
In commodities, Brent cooled from around $111 to below $107 a barrel by Friday. Gold hovered near ?1.59 lakh per 10 grams and silver swung around ?2.72 lakh per kg, both reacting to a volatile dollar and shifting oil prices.
