The offline process is required for:
- Non-individual clients — such as companies, HUFs, partnerships, or trusts
- Partial closure requests — where only part of the account needs to be closed
Individual clients can use either the online or offline method.
Before you begin, the same conditions apply as the online process — your NAV (Net Asset Value) must be 0 before the closure request can be processed.
Scenario 1 — NAV is 0 (no holdings, no balance) You can proceed directly with the offline closure steps below.
Scenario 2 — You have holdings but no fund balance You will need to either sell your holdings or transfer them to another broker before proceeding. If you wish to transfer, attach the CML copy of your new broker along with the closure form.
Scenario 3 — You have both holdings and a fund balance You will need to clear both before the closure request can be processed. Raise a withdrawal request first to bring your fund balance to 0. For holdings, either sell them or transfer them to another broker. Once both are cleared, you can proceed with the offline closure steps below.
To close your account offline, follow these steps:
- Download the form — Go to www.samco.in and click the menu icon (three lines) on the top right. Under ‘Support’, click on ‘Downloads & Resources’. Under ‘Forms for Demat Account’, download the Account Closure Request Form. A sample form is also available on the same page for reference.
- Fill out the form — Complete all the required details on the form.
- Sign and send — Sign the form and send it to Samco’s registered address by post or courier. The address is printed on the form itself.
Once Samco receives your form, your request will be processed and you will be notified accordingly.
