Business Overview
MV Electrosystems Limited is a technology-driven company engaged in the design, development, assembly and manufacturing of electrical and power electronics equipment used in railway rolling stock. Its product suite spans IGBT-based 3-Phase Drive Propulsion equipment for electric locomotives, switchgear panels for railway coaches and EMUs, cable protection & management products, and electrical components, systems and sub-systems.
The company’s defining achievement is the indigenous, in-house design and development of its 3-Phase Propulsion Equipment — comprising the traction converter-inverter system, auxiliary converter, vehicle control unit / train control management system and driver display unit. After a 50,000 km defect-free service trial, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) issued the final inspection certificate (prototype clearance) on September 15, 2025, and commercial supplies to Indian Railways commenced in March 2026. Its R&D Centre received DSIR recognition from the Ministry of Science and Technology on June 12, 2026.
Incorporated in 2009 and headquartered at Faridabad, Haryana, the company operates an assembling-cum-manufacturing facility at Baghola, Palwal, supported by a dedicated Research, Design & Development centre at Faridabad. As on June 30, 2026, it held an executable order book of 564 propulsion equipment worth ₹921.64 crore, excluding GST and AMC, from three locomotive units of Indian Railways. As of May 31, 2026, the company had 206 employees.

Key Strengths and Opportunities
-
Strong In-House Research, Design & Development (R&D) Capabilities
The company has robust in-house engineering capabilities, which have enabled it to indigenously develop an advanced IGBT-based 3-Phase Drive Propulsion System. This independent R&D expertise reduces its reliance on external technology providers, accelerates new product induction and ensures absolute control over proprietary designs. -
High Barriers to Entry in the Railway Segment
Developing safety-critical railway electrical systems is capital-intensive and demands deep domain expertise, multi-disciplinary teams and long product development cycles. Furthermore, undergoing the highly structured and rigorous testing and approval frameworks mandated by RDSO and CLW acts as a significant entry barrier for new competitors. -
Long-Standing and Deep Relationship with Indian Railways
Incorporated in 2009 as a simple component supplier, the company has successfully expanded its portfolio into highly complex, high-value systems like propulsion equipment. Its proven execution track record and continuous compliance with stringent technical specifications have established a trusted and lasting relationship with Indian Railways. -
Experienced Promoter and Management Team
The company is guided by its founder, Mohit Vohra, who has over 17 years of experience in railway engineering, manufacturing and development. He is supported by a highly qualified executive leadership team and a dedicated department of over 35 engineers, providing strong implementation skills and operational effectiveness. -
In-House Intellectual Property and Inherent Cost Advantages
Because the company owns the intellectual property rights for its propulsion systems, it has no dependency on third-party technology. This means the company does not incur licensing or royalty fees, providing it with a substantial cost advantage over multinational companies or domestic peers that rely on foreign collaborations.
Key Risks
-
Substantial Customer and Revenue Concentration Risk
The company derives a significant portion of its operating revenue from a limited number of customers, with Indian Railways and its various divisions alone accounting for 76.72%, 72.96% and 67.80% of its revenue from operations in Fiscal 2026, 2025 and 2024 respectively. Consequently, any delay, reduction or cancellation of orders from these primary customers could have a severe material adverse effect on its business and financial condition. -
Delays or Failures in Obtaining and Maintaining Regulatory Approvals
The company is governed by various laws requiring it to continuously obtain, renew and maintain statutory registrations, licences and rigorous technical approvals, such as RDSO clearances, to keep its manufacturing plants and products functional. Any delay, failure to obtain approvals or regulatory action arising from past or future non-compliance could disrupt production schedules and severely impact operations. -
Geographical Concentration Risk in the State of Haryana
All of the company’s existing assembling facilities, proposed expansion sites and Research, Design & Development centre are situated entirely within the state of Haryana, India. This high regional concentration exposes the business to localised risks such as state-specific policy changes, civil unrest, local labour issues or natural disasters that could shut down its production operations. -
Execution and Cost Risks in Facility Relocation and Upgrades
The company is currently in the process of relocating its cable protection and interconnected products manufacturing from Unit 1 to Unit 2, while simultaneously installing new machinery and advanced testing lines at both facilities. Any unexpected delays, cost overruns, supplier defaults or construction disruptions during this transition could halt production and adversely affect its financial position. -
Operational Execution Risks for Large Propulsion System Orders
In Fiscal 2026, the company secured major purchase orders totalling ₹7,376.60 million to supply 450 propulsion equipment sets, which represents a significant scale-up compared to its historically stable and much lower revenue. Any operational inability to successfully execute these complex orders, whether due to material shortages, working capital constraints or quality issues, could result in heavy liquidated damages, order rejections or cancellation of contracts.
