Draft Policy Boosts Domestic Sourcing: Suzlon Share Price Rises Nearly 5%

Market Overview

Suzlon Share Price saw a notable movement on April 21, 2025, climbing close to 5% during intraday trading. The surge came after the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy issued a draft notification promoting domestic sourcing in wind turbine manufacturing.

Draft Notification on Wind Turbine Components

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has released a draft notification proposing compulsory local sourcing of critical components for wind turbine manufacturing. The Revised List of Models & Manufacturers (RLMM) for wind turbines now includes provisions requiring components such as blades, towers, gearboxes, and generators to be sourced from domestic suppliers.

This policy move is intended to enhance the share of locally manufactured content in the renewable energy sector, particularly wind energy, and is expected to influence industry-wide operations.

Company Update: Suzlon Energy

Suzlon Energy's stock reached an intraday high of ₹57.65 on the NSE, reflecting a 4.68% rise within the session. Over the past two trading sessions, the company's share price has increased by nearly 6%.

According to data from BSE Analytics, Suzlon shares have advanced by more than 12% over the past two weeks. In contrast, the Sensex index rose 8.6% during the same timeframe.

Suzlon has reported a cumulative installation of 50 GW in wind energy capacity.

Summary

Suzlon Energy's recent share price gains have been linked to a draft policy to boost domestic component sourcing in wind turbine manufacturing. The company also continues to expand its presence with new project orders and has reached a milestone of 50 GW in total installations. These developments are part of broader trends supporting renewable energy and localized manufacturing in India.
