Why was my order auto-squared off?

If you placed an Intraday order and did not close the position yourself, the Samco system will automatically square off your position at 3:15 PM. This is a standard risk management practice to ensure Intraday positions are not carried overnight unintentionally.

The auto square-off works as follows:

  • At 3:15 PM, the system initiates square-off for all open Intraday positions
  • The positions are closed at the prevailing market price at the time of square-off
  • The resulting profit or loss is reflected in your account

To avoid auto square-off, you should manually close your Intraday positions before 3:15 PM. If you want to hold a position overnight, you would need to place it as a Delivery order (for stocks) or an Overnight order (for F&O) at the time of placing the trade.
