What is the lock-in period for ELSS (tax-saving) mutual funds?

ELSS funds carry a mandatory three-year lock-in on every investment. This is set by SEBI and applies across all ELSS schemes; it isn’t a RankMF-specific rule.

If you’re investing through a SIP, each instalment has its own three-year clock rather than one lock-in for the whole investment. Your first instalment becomes withdrawable after three years, while every instalment after that unlocks on its own timeline.

Worth keeping in mind when planning a redemption you may find only part of your ELSS holding is actually free to withdraw at a given time.
