You can place a US stock order in two ways: by investing a fixed amount (including fractional shares) or by specifying a quantity. Here’s how each works.
Option 1: Buy in Amount
Use this option when you want to invest a specific rupee amount rather than a fixed number of shares. This also allows you to buy fractional shares of high-priced stocks.
- Tap the Search bar and type the name of the stock you want to buy.
- On the stock’s quote page, tap Buy to open the order window, then select Buy in Amount as the order type.
- Enter the amount you wish to invest. Note that Limit Orders are not available in this mode.
- Review the approximate total funds required, including applicable charges.
- Tap Buy. Since limit orders are not permitted here, the order will be executed at the prevailing market price.
Option 2: Buy in Quantity
Use this option when you want to purchase a specific number of shares and have the flexibility to choose between Market and Limit orders.
- Tap the Search bar and type the name of the stock you want to buy.
- On the stock’s quote page, tap Buy to open the order window, then select Buy in Quantity as the order type.
- Enter the number of shares you want to purchase.
- Both Market and Limit Orders are available in this mode.
- For a Limit Order, enter your desired price. Ensure the price is within the allowed range.
- For a Market Order, no price entry is needed.
- Review the approximate total funds required, including all applicable charges.
- Tap Buy. Your order will be executed based on the order type selected.
